Electric Pressure Plate. The pressure plate generates a a signal when it is pressed, for example by something heavy resting on it, or by a projectile striking it. The voltage generated depends on the weight of item and is between 0.8V (Lightest) and 1.5V (Heaviest), therefore the pressure plate can be used as a weight. As soon as the pressure is removed, the output signal returns to 0V. The plate has outputs on all sides for easy connection. It can be placed on any horizontal or vertical surface.
Crafting
It takes 3 wooden slabs and 3 copper ingots to craft wooden pressure plates. You get 4 plates.
Use
- Pressure plates are typically used to detect the player (or an animal) standing in one place and will trigger an electric event - most commonly to open a door.
- They can be placed on walls and can tell when the character bumps into them.
- They can be used in decorative ways, such as a tabletop, as a pathway or as a tiled ceiling. Using them on a pathway results in a very noisy walk, however!
